Hotel Europa

A most enjoyable stop-over on a very long journey.

✓ On arrival, the hotel looked modern, clean and well organised. The check in did not disappoint as a very pleasant receptionist had my room card ready, all good so far. My room was on the third floor and had no view to speak of but as I arrived in the dark it wasn't a problem. After a very refreshing shower in a good sized bathroom I had a very reasonably priced drink in the bar before a very pleasant and very filling meal with wine and coffee in the hotel restaurant. On return to the room I turned on the AC with no response, after a few attempts I assumed, as many hotels do, it had been turned off for winter. I tried sleeping with the window open but the sound of bottle banks being emptied and locals talking (shouting) meant the window got closed and I finally slept in a very warm room. All problems of the previous night were forgotten on sight of the breakfast buffet, typically Italian but with bacon and scrambled eggs for those of us that require more fuel. A pleasant surprise was the provision of good quality Breakfast tea and really hot (not the usual tepid offering) water to make it. A very good start to the day.

✗ As I was informed that it could have been my fault that the AC did not work due to the window not being closed properly. Instructions for operating the AC in multiple languages may help.

✓ The breakfast was nice, the staff was extremely friendly and my special dietary needs were met. Very kind place.

✗ The place must be from the 80ies and you just notice that from the smell, the age of things, the noise.

✓ Just right for what I wanted - near motor way east access, good restaurant and v friendly. Not the place to stay without a car.

Pleasant

✓ Location is good, though it is not in the center of Ancona. Mcdonalds is nearby, also a couple of big supermarkets.

✗ Elevators are old , small and slow.

For me an excellent hotel, and breakfast, and I have stayed in hotels all around the world. Hope I can be returning soon
