✓ Quiet location, nice view from the balcony

✗ Rooms and whole hotel structure need renovation, wifi was not working well, breakfast was poor quality

Hassle-free stay with fair value for two persons, a little too expensive for solo travellers.

✓ Hassle-free checkin, multilingual and helpful staff, only 10 min walk from the city center and Untermais train station, supermarkets nearby, Chinese restaurant in the hotel with fair prices, internet connected TV in the room. Solid and simple breakfast.

✗ Very simple, a bit outdated, furniture. The quality of the Chinese restaurant may vary. Fair price for two people, no discount and hence a bit expensive for solo travellers.

Terribly unfriendly staff.

✓ I dealt with three different customer-facing staff. One, a young guy, possibly a student still, spoke German and English fluently. He checked me in like a pro and promised to have a breakfast package prepared for my early departure the next morning. The room was basic but not overly hot during this 35 degree period.

✗ The two other staff I encountered, two elderly ladies, were horrible. I arrived a couple of hours before check-in. The terse regard from the first of the two ladies seemed to say: "What do YOU want?" By email I was given to understand I could leave my bag somewhere in the mean time. I had also asked whether I could possible have breakfast upon arriving, in stead of the next morning, since I would be leaving very early. I had not received a reply to that question. A second lady appeared; no smile, no hello, no welcome... She took me to one of the customers in the lobby that doubles as a restaurant/café to translate (neither of the ladies spoke English or German). (Afterwards, the customer apologised to me, saying "To people who don't know them, it seems like they're angry and arguing all the time. Ha ha.") Finally, she agreed, and took me to the breakfast room, featuring some leftovers (it was 10.00-ish by now) and lukewarm cold cuts, which I duly left without touching any. As mentioned above, at 14.00 I was checked in by a competent staff member, who promised a breakfast package for the next morning... which did not materialise unfortunately. There was only one of the dragon ladies there at the time, shooting daggers at me, so I just left.

✓ I only stayed for one night, so the best thing was the owners/staff of hotel being able to communicate in English. This was very nice & comforting as I struggle to speak Italian/German. The staff was very nice and checked me in quickly, showed me around and how to open door as I needed to check out early in the morning. The room I had was very big & spacious. It had a fan which was good because it was a very hot day and a balcony. Twin beds-small but comfortable, bathroom was also very spacious. The overnight stay also included breakfast which I like very much as I always tend to book a hotel at least with breakfast.

✗ The hotel is quite an old one and very, very outdated. Due to this, the room had a very distinctive smell which you could smell on everything-beds, sheets, towels, curtains(ripped), carpet. The furniture there is old and smelly, so unfortunately I had to keep my close in a backpack. Carpet was a bit stained & curtains haven’t been washed for a long time as well as ripped. The walls were scratched/stained, need a paint job badly. Honestly, as this is a 3 star hotel I expected a little more than this but considering the price I guess it’s passable. Investing a little bit of money & effort into this hotel would be beneficial, even as little as painting would change the atmosphere in the rooms. I stay in different hotels frequently and there is definitely a difference if compared.

A nice break in the mountains in the north of Italy

✓ The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the town centre and its facilities, and has ample parking space. My room was clean and spacious.

Adequately priced hotel compared to others in Merano. Free parking is a nice bonus

✓ The hotel is good located and has a free parking. Our room had a nice outside view and a big balcony. Friendly staff. The breakfast was in general ok, but nothing outstanding.

✗ The room furnishing is a bit dated, but for us it does not matter that much.

✓ Comfortable room. Easy access to the town. Restaurant in the hotel. Balcony outside bedroom. Complementary toothbrush kit was nice.

✗ No air-conditioning - fan was a little noisy.
