Well-located but pricy one-room "apartment" in central Las Palmas
✓ Very good communication with the host before and during the stay. He seems to be a very friendly guy and gave helpful information. Convenient location. Very near the main bus station, Old Town, shopping area, supermarket, etc Fairly comfortable bed. Big refrigerator. Sufficiently big closet and drawers. Table for writing and another for eating. Upstairs there's a common room with some cookies and crackers for free. And a coffee machine which didn't work most of the time when I used it, but somehow the lady in charge eventually got to work. Free water was available. Also there was a nice rooftop terrace for everyone's use. Washing machine was also available, though I didn't use it.
✗ Way overpriced for what was offered. It was over the Christmas holiday and I was on my own, however it really was expensive for minimal comfort. The host claimed that Booking.com charged me much much more than what he received. no way to know if that's true. But I paid almost the same for a very nice hotel the previous year No room cleaning during the 11 days I stayed there. No broom or other supplies for me to clean the room. I asked once for clean sheets and towels, as many were soaked from mopping up the bathroom floor, and this was done. I also put the full trash bag out in the hall and it was eventually picked up. The shower was very hard to regulate temperature and water leaked onto the floor every time. Flimsy, short shower curtain. Just terrible to have the floor flooded every time I took a shower. Very noisy outside day and night. Windows had no sound insulation at all. No cable TV, so all channels were in Spanish. Just a simple "hotplate-style" burner for cooking which was not easy to understand how to use. When I arrived, I could not reach the lady in charge, so had to contact the host by phone. When I left, the lady did not come at the agreed time to collect my key, so I had to leave the key on the table and just close the door. Honestly this place could be better if a decent shower was installed and soundproof windows were put in.
