Da Vinci House

Despite the great reviews, photos and price, my experience was utterly disappointing.

✓ The location is great and the price quite cheap. I didn't expect bells at this price as all I wanted was a night's stay and sampling a new place. The internet connection was great too.

✗ I missed the fine print that only cash is accepted. I hardly carry cash and prefer to use my card instead. The attendant I found let me in anyway as I could get the cash later and pay. However, the hosts were not happy that a guest was let in without paying. The attendant got a lashing for this and was almost asked to leave the room to go get cash to pay. When I went for the cash, I came back to find the gate locked. I was let in and paid. I needed to go out for dinner so I asked about the gate situation but the host said they don't lock the gate until 10pm. So why did they lock it at 7pm! The bed wasn't quite comfortable and the linen was thin and light. My room had a thin curtain that did not block out light. No TV. My bathroom floor had the drain installed on the higher end of the floor so water pooled at the opposite end. In the morning, the attendant knocked at my door at 10am to 'remind' me of the checkout at 11am. Upon checkout as I waited for my taxi, the hosts told me they would be leaving in 30mins so I needed to be gone by then. I have never felt more unwelcome in the over 1000 times I have stayed at a guest house or hotel. Did I look suspicious, threatening, criminal or what really got the better of you guys at Da Vinci House?

Incredible Hospitality at e Da Vinci House

✓ Amazing hospitality- they let me check in after midnight. They also helped store my luggage when I was away for a few days. I highly recommend the Da Vinci Guesthouse in Kigali!

Amazing stay at Da Vinci House

✓ Da Vinci house was well situated, safe and easy to access different areas- some small shops closeby for essentials. The hosts were incredible and friendly- they made sure that you were comfortable. Also, they offered delicious meals at their home- loved the eggplant dish! Everything was exceptional for the price, location and of course their hospitality!

✓ It was very minimal basic facility

✗ Initially, they advertised to cook food for us and later they declined and even not allowed to enter kitchen even to use their tap water. A friend had to order food online later since they were not providing food, but the owner - specifically the male- sam didnt helped by providing their number for ordering food online. We had booked for 7 days, and after second day itself we thought about moving out, but we stayed back. By our 5th day there was no.water in the tap. So they gave water in a jug for each to do.our basic necessities. we had to go to a friend's place to take bath and go to toilet. It was very uncomfortable and bad experience. we wont be recommending anyone to stay here.
