The only way to get to Westman Islands is with a ferry or an airplane.The ferry is called Herjólfur and it sails between the mainland and Westman Islands all year round.The drive from Reykjavík to Landeyjahöfn is about 2 hours

The drive from Diamond Beach to Landeyjarhofn harbor is 3-3.5 hour. The ferry ride is then 40 minutes. The ferry ride from Landeyjarhofn harbor is easy. From Vík it is a 55 Minute drive to Landeyjarhofn harbor.

We found Vestmannaeyjar absolutely magnificent, fascinating landscapes.

✓ This is a very nice new property. Our apartment (a living room with a kitchenette + a bedroom + WC/shower) was elegant and clean. The kitchenette is well-equipped. Among other things, we located the French press that had been advertised. The sofa bed (a very solid bed, wide) was the best bed in the apartment! The property is very close to the harbor and the central street. The entrance of the building was a bit difficult to locate, quite bit off on the side from the street, but in fact the red signs (about "new mail boxes") do lead there.

✗ We had booked an apartment for 3 colleagues, two single beds and a sofa bed. We got a double bed and a sofa bed. The lady who had prepared our room told us they get no information forwarded about the desired bed arrangement. In the end it was not a big deal since the double bed consisted in fact of two beds that could be separated, only the fitted sheet had to be changed. But it is something for the management to keep in mind and organize better.

✓ The kitchen is very spacious, and the induction stove and oven are excellent, making cooking very convenient.

✗ In the hallway, there is a washing machine available for use, but unfortunately, there is no dryer. If four people are staying, the space is a bit limited, and there isn't much room left after unfolding the luggage and sofa bed.

Easy access to town, lava fields, clean and comfortable

✓ The room was perfect for our family of 4. We needed a clean, comfortable place to stay on the island and this was perfect for that. We didn’t use the kitchen, but beds and bathroom were perfect.

✗ We stayed over on a Saturday night and had the windows open in the basement apartment because it was hot. It was a little loud in the courtyard when the bars closed. But it went away quickly. And it was a Saturday night. So not a huge deal.
