Fire Service College

I had a relaxing, comfortable stay. I was able to visit my friends in Morton so all good!

✓ I liked how quiet and comfortable my accomodation was. Staff were friendly and arrangements were straight forward and easy

Very clean and safe. 1 mile walk to town 20 mins

✓ Good clean and safe for the Motorcycles we had

✗ Could do with some additional eating facilities or a shop

Enjoyed the time there and I would use the facilities again

✓ Food was not part of the package, but the accomodation provided all that I needed in terms of Room, access and affordability

✗ Would have helped if it was more clearer in the information around the canteen facilities - during the week you can use them (Pay as you go) but not available over weekends

Comfortable and interesting place, helpful staff; not ideal if no car & if breakfast not available.

✓ When I was able to speak to them, all staff I spoke to were very helpful. It is an interesting place. The room was comfortable.

✗ It wasn't until after I had booked that I realised that breakfast was not included (I suppose this was my fault but I don't think it was immediately obvious.) I don't have a car so couldn't easily pop into Moreton or somewhere for breakfast. I phoned and spoke to the manager at the college who told me it would depend on whether there were sufficient people on site on the two nights I was there as to whether I would be able to buy breakfast on site. He subsequently confirmed that this would be possible. However, when I arrived for breakfast the chef told me I was not expected and could not have breakfast. However, he kindly agreed after discussion to provide breakfast for me (and I was very grateful that he also provided breakfast after the second night I stayed even though I was the only one having it!). I also had a problem in my room in that it was not possible to switch off the noisy fan in the bathroom and I was expecting therefore to have a night with little sleep. It was not obvious who to speak to about this since reception had closed. I tried phoning from the phone in the communal area but couldn't get hold of anyone. I would have walked to the security staff on the gate but by chance I was then able to speak to one of the other guests who advised me to find and turn off the isolation switch which worked. I reported this problem when I checked out so that staff were aware it needed to be sorted.

it's the accommodation block for the firefighter college so it's strange but it isn't bad?

✓ rooms were comfortable and clean

✗ the place was absolutely deserted during our stay, which made it very very eerie; very high security getting in and out, presumably because there's lots of fancy fire fighting machinery in the grounds?

Basic but clean I would use again and recommend to others

✓ Clean and very good accommodation the initial receptionist was very happy and pleasant

✗ The breakfast situation wasn’t explained to me and I can only describe the guy I paid for the breakfast as a jobsworth he was really no help at all. When I went to pay to check out on Sunday the receptionist a young lad called Harry brain didn’t seem to know what he was doing regarding payment I initially offered to pay with cash but he declined saying cash payments weren’t an option so when I went to pay with my card he said “ oh you booked through booking.com they take the payment from you then they pay us” I said I don’t think so they haven’t ever done that before I said they take the card and account numbers but you pay at the accommodation but he was adamant that’s the way it worked so I asked him to take my name and phone number so someone could call me as I didn’t want anyone to think I’ve walked out without paying

✗ Would have been nice if some of the canteen facilities were available for breakfast although wasn't a huge problem as there are lots of cafes in Moreton itself
