✓ Great breakfast. Maga was the nicest, most helpful guy!
✗ Bath and shower could have done with a good scrub. Might have been due to the recent floods and damage but there was almost no water pressure for a shower.
✓ The location is superb and the rooms are superb.
✗ There was no supervision of the staff by the owner. The unit did not have basic facilities such as bath mats and soap. In the microwave, old chicken was left by the previous guests and not removed by the cleaning staff. The smell was not great. During the scheduled load shedding, there was no back up power (generators or inverters). There was then a power outage in the area which lasted a long time and the water supply was cut off. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience. If the owner concentrates on sorting out these issues, this guest house would be superb as the location is breathtaking.
✓ The staff on duty were very friendly and always available to sort out any issues. I didn't have breakfast, but those that did enjoyed it.
✗ There is no alternative power at this venue which makes working conditions tricky. Three parties in our group could not use their oxygen machines at night due to no battery backup being available. It's a little far from town, a car is needed at all times.
✓ I love the location! I felt safe. The garden with the outdoor couch was my favourite spot!
✓ Staff was exceptional, from owner to daily help. Scenic views and hiking trail within touching distance, village and wine farms short distance away. Privacy, even though it is a shared space.
✗ Bedroom patio could be fully covered, so the entire space is used in all conditions and enjoy the views.
✓ The location and setting was excellent just what we were looking for the room was a good size bed comfortable and nice bathroom. Staff were great but unsupported by hosts?owners.
✗ We had no water or electricity for two hours at a time, twice a day due to load shedding. I presume that an electrical pump was unable to pump water to the room? no warning of loss of water given by hosts or additional water drinking or otherwise offered !! other places we stayed in S Africa had ways of mitigating the effect of load shedding on their guests we got the impression that the hosts of Huguenot House simply didn’t care. Breakfasts were also affected and although the loyal staff were clearly doing their best there was no explanation or mitigation for this by the hosts. We were very disappointed.
✓ The location and accommodation was good.
✗ The breakfasts were very poor. No variety provided. It was disorganised but through no fault of the staff but management who were non existent throughout our entire stay.. We were left to figure things out for ourselves especially when it came to load shedding with no electricity or water. Very disappointing
✓ The breakfast was great, the owner really showed they cared about my journey there. The staff there were friendly and resourceful. It was a lovely stay. If I come back to this part of the world, I'll certainly look here first

Yes, no problem
Apologies, no pets allowed. We love animals and have a dog and cat ourselves, but have found it to be problematic in the past as other guests complain. Kind Regards Jesse
