Only stayed here as needed a cheap bed last minute for alternate flight arrangements
✓ Have walked past this property multiple times, thought it looked quite cool, so of you’re into themed places this fits. A couple of minutes walk to the yumbo centre or the sand dunes. I stayed in a recently upgraded room which was suitable.
✗ Well I must say my stay was very disappointing. - Beware when you check in, you are asked for your credit card details (which is very standard) however they ask you to write it down with pen and paper - from a security point of view this is appalling handling of sensitive information and such data should always be electronically encrypted. - as soon as I got to my room two cockroaches appeared crawling over the floor! I showed reception the photos and there wasn’t much care. - there was no air conditioning to the room, and I don’t really want to leave my door open (for more cockroaches?) and bizarrely there’s a window in the room that opens out onto the hallway with people walking past!! - when I used the toilet the for the first time I had a lovely surprise from the last user (yes it was brown) and no attention had been taken to ensure it was cleaned properly. - general cleanliness was average at best - when I checked out there was no ‘how was your stay?’ Etc, and I had to ask to leave my bag for a few hours, which seemed like it was a chore for them. I would never stay here again.

Pleasant
✓ The new restaurant is very nice. The new superior rooms are great. The late check out time option is brilliant as my flight is always at 8pm and the staff are very nice and friendly.
✗ Waaaaaaaaaaay too many kids staying at times, like 50 at a time. It ruins it for everyone else who just want to chill out at the pool for the day but this is impossible with all the shouting and screaming, it is like being in a kindergarten! Also, there always seems to be some sort of construction upgrades work going on, if it is not the horrible sound of angle grinders it is the noise from banging hammers.

Rey Carlos could do with some upgrades, but is a nice hotel overall
✓ I loved the pool and attached restaurant. The pool is the perfect depth, almost 6feet in the majority. Very comfortable to swim in. I also loved the staff at the pool bar, they were really sound and made the stay memorable! Thanks to Alex & Grace we were made feel welcome! I think once the hotel has finished upgrading all the rooms and (improves the beds & mattresses)and sorts out it's air conditioning issues it can be a 5 star hotel.
✗ I didn't like that I booked an air conditioned room and got a room where staff knew the AC was broken, in July this is unacceptable but they did move me to a new room after one night. I did not like the beds. They were rough to sleep on, the provided couch/sofa bed in the superior rooms are far nicer to sleep on. I stayed on the 4th floor and the cannabis smell was very strong. Additionally, people do not follow the quiet hours signs posted everywhere around the halls. Some people were extremely loud during our stay and that seemed to be the norm

✓ Really lovely staff despite the language barrier, very clean, pool facilities nice and was easy to get a sun lounger.
✗ Could do with a second pillow on beds and more than one key per room as if one person wants to go out then the others cannot.

A little dissapointing
✓ Great location, friendly staff, clean communal areas
✗ No working light in the kitchen, balcony chair was snapped, damaged sockets throughout the room, shower head attachment damaged, bathroom door would not shut properly. Paid £300 more than a friend in the same hotel at the same times who had none of these issues.

This was my second stay, despite some of the drawbacks, I’ll definitely recommend it
