Fantastic experience, our favourite part of Jordan

The family running the camp were very welcoming and made us feel like their guests rather than tourists, the water was hot and the food delicious and they kept us well fed and watered on our full day desert tour. We would highly recommend staying in this camp as we had such a great time and learnt a lot about Bedouin living.

Very nice experience in desert wilderness

The host (Mamdouh) was very tending and helpful The desert experience is something I am very happy that I had Although my purpose there wasn't cultural-related, I feel I got a nice insight on the Bedouin way of life

Property didn't offer towels. So I had to 'sacrifise' one of my clothes to dry up after having a shower. Bring your own towel... Water. There is a problem with water in Jordan. Although they did have bottled (plastic) water, that was often left outside, under direct sunlight and that makes the toxins from the plastic bleed into the water, making it not suitable for drinking. So you get to chose between that and dyhadration. I chose to drink it. I haven't been to other camps in the area, but I am afraid that this might also apply there too. It is a reality when heading out to the desert I guess. If I visit there again, I would bring my own water (e.g. x6 pack) from a local supermarket, as to minimise the chance of it getting contaminated due to heat Finally (and this has nothing to do with the camp), I wasn't happy about the 'reservation' of the environment. There was more plastic out there than there were animals. Such a shame really - the government lists Wadi Rum as 'protected area', which is obviously not the case as far as environment preservation goes. People, including residents need to be taught on how to respect the environment. Its their heritage after all!

Couldn‘t be happier!

We just loved everything about the camp - it was clean, great staff, welcoming and warm atmosphere, great food and lots of Tour options for exploring Wadi Rum with a local guide from the camp. Also they were so helpful, picking us up when we arrived, organizing our bus ticket and driving us to the station and always taking care of us. Biggest recommendation and many thanks!

Nothing to mention :)

Q

Hi! I m interested in staying 2 nights, and looking to photograph snakes. Is the camp located in sandy dessert? I know there will be harder to find, as it is November now, but not impossible, right? Can I walk around, nearby the camp for taking photos?

Hello! Yes our camp located in desert and also you can do a walk around the camp but Not far away because is easy to lost. Also I would like to inform you that is really very hard to find snakes this period.
