
Set on La Giudecca island on the Venice Lagoon, Al Redentore Di Venezia is 100 metres from the nearest Vaporetto (water bus) stop. It offers self-catering apartments in a historic 19th-century building.

✗ The Naighbor’s upstairs had children running and the noise was terrible
✓ Location - the Giudecca retains a sense of local community, with less obvious impact from tourism, and with good shops and restaurants etc. Very spacious apartment The wooden floors in this converted old building transmit noise (kiddies and footfall etc) very easily. Apartments 206, 207 and 208 are on the top floor and so relatively immune from this problem. Apartments 204 and 205 are on the middle floor and so noisier in this regard
✗ The Openow app was tricky to master - firstly registering guests in time, with some delays for each one, requiring telephone calls to the reception desk at the managing hotel some distance from the apartments (where there is no resident reception desk). Some anxiety about how to gain access if one’s phone was stolen, lost, or out of juice. Some sort of direct ?wifi system at the main door to be able to call for help in such circumstances would be reassuring. Insufficient coffee and dishwasher tablets. Instructions for the washing machine and oven would be helpful as they were not easy to understand intuitively. Also, without a tumble dryer the apartment needs a drying rack Insufficient kitchen tools with a blunt kitchen knife which is dangerous. In apartment 205 there is space for an additional island unit, as there is very little working surface space in the current kitchen. This could also function as a breakfast or dinner bar. Difficult to know where to put rubbish if needed before the apartment’s next scheduled clean.
✓ Spacious. 2 bathrooms. Quiet. Pleasant outlook.
✗ There was miscommunication about passport details. I wasn’t comfortable sending them via email. They said they’d send a link but didn’t. They didn’t explain we wouldn’t be able to enter the property if we hadn’t given passport details. So we stood in the hot sun, tired, on the phone sorting out for 20 mins to get in. Then we missed seeing the sheet of info on front desk as there were people in reception & we went straight up to our room. Suggest you provide the info sheet in each apartment & also tell guests which floor their apartment is on when arriving.
✓ Two complete bathrooms, airconditioning in all rooms. Close to ferry stop for travel around the city

✗ Our hotel was located on the bottom floor. Was very loud when people would return home in the lobby. Also our 'view' was of a very overgrown garden that was not nice at all. Very dark. Also had an old man Peak into the window at one point. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable, I'm glad I was only here for one night.
