✓ Beautiful hotel, clean smart and very cosy too

✓ I arrived with physical problems (severe back and foot pains) and the staff went out of their way to help me.
✗ Steep stairs but there's nothing you can do about that in an old country building!
✓ Really pleasant good morning greetings given to me at breakfast by the female staff member and Andrew's kind support and photography advice for the 'high force waterfall' astrophotography trip proved helpful upon arrival. Parking was very tight and close to the main road but it was adequate and secure.
✗ Nobody to see and ask for directions to my room on arrival. Only when I went to the bar and spoke to a customer did someone tell me where to go for my room key.
✓ A beautiful room, with lovely decor. Super comfy bed. Some of the staff, especially, George, were amazing.
✗ Information could have been shared better. For example, it took me a while to figure out I needed to ask at the bar for fresh milk, and I had to ask about access outside in the night - ie which door could I exit, did I have the key. It really helps if those things are shared.
✓ Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was generally excellent. Staff friendly and efficient.
✗ More knowledge of dietary requirements would be helpful. One of our party is coeliac, which is a medical condition. The hotel was told in advance but there were still elements that they did not understand and meals were delayed because of this.
✓ Lovely friendly small hotel, in perfect location for High Force and Low Force waterfalls and other local attractions. Had a good nights sleep, as it was quiet and peaceful. Restaurant food was delicious. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
✗ I was very happy with everything, but other people might not like the lack of lift. Staff were really helpful, offering to take my bag up for me.
✓ We received a friendly welcome and was shown to our rooms by George. The rooms where well laid out and had every facility expected and a little more. They have a most excellent chef who delighted us with a delicious evening meal and breakfast.
✗ I could not find an electric socket near a mirror in order to use the hair dryer. Being resourceful I found I could see what I was doing by plugging the hairdryer in near the room door , then leave the bathroom door wide open, to see what I was doing in the bathroom mirror. I suggest a small mirror located near the bedroom door would solve this little issue.
✓ The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and bed comfortable. The decor was good and the tea and coffee making in the room was well stocked with high end brands. The food was very good both evening meal and breakfast.
✗ I always check the menu to see what my wife would have had , had she been with me . Unfortunately there was no vegan options on the menu. There was only one choice if you were vegetarian. Several choices for beef , one chicken ( which I had and was great) and two fish . I think there may have been options but I think you would have had to ask . It should be on the menu. Again with breakfast, I asked for the cooked breakfast without the sausage bacon or black pudding. Oh you want the vegetarian breakfast. This was not on the menu, it should be as the veggie sausage was the best I have ever eaten .
We certainly do have Gluten Free Options available and a member of the team would be able to assist you during your stay.
We have one dog free room, all the rest accommodate dogs at a charge of £10 per dog per stay.
Our deluxe king rooms are the only rooms in the hotel that has bath, all the other rooms have showers only.
