Masseria Fontana di Vite

A beautiful small boutique hotel, ideal for exploring the fascinating town of Matera and the surrounding area.

✓ Beautiful property with lovely pool and outside areas to sit and relax. Good restaurant and bar. Easy car journey to Matera. The reception staff were very helpful.

✗ The breakfast was a little sparse, one morning some things hadn’t been replenished, there were no croissants and we had to ask for bread. Tea and coffee refills would also have been welcome.

Peaceful countryside stay near Matera and the beach - a great roadtrip base!

✓ The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Annalisa! She explained everything, answered all of my questions, and even walked around to check in with all the guests on several occasions. She was overall a very friendly hostess! The pool area is fantastic after a day of exploring or for a full day of rest on a longer trip. They offer drink service at the pool which is a real treat! My room also had a terrace where I could lounge and have my own drinks and snacks within walking distance to the pool. Wifi was strong throughout the property, which is not always standard in such a remote location, so bonus points for that! The maids were flexible and always confirmed when the best time would be to clean the room. Very friendly ladies always greeting the guests! If you are staying in the satellite building by the pool, you can park in the lot right next to the side entrance so you are not walking on pebbles with your luggage - a nice thoughtful, gesture. Lastly, it is very accessible to the city of Matera (only 10 minutes drive) or the beaches of Metaponto (1 hour with traffic, shorter if no traffic) It goes without saying you need your own car to stay here.

✗ My only suggestion is to put up a more visible sign as to where to check in upon arrival - I followed the sign to the main building and tried multiple doors before contacting Annalisa, who answered me immediately and came out to find me. I'd put up a little sign directing people to go around into the courtyard. Otherwise, I have no complaints, everything was fantastic - I will be back!

Stay in the countryside at Fontana de Vire and just visit Matera for a few hours

Living like a Don in a Italian Villa.

✓ Marvelous Hotel!!! One of my unique and bucolic experience in my entire life! You feel like a real “Don” in a Italian Villa. The room and bed are very comfortable. The air conditioner is on the perfect perfect tenperature. Cleaniless is King. Breakfast suberb and the view is unforgetable. Everything is great on this Hotel! Worth every penny of it!

✗ Th location of the Hotel is countryside. No problem about that. In fact, that is the charm of the Hotel. The only problem is, if you dont have a good gps, it is possible to have trouble to find it, since there is no signs.
