Magic place to have relaxing time off

✓ This place is amazing and unique. Everything is thought through and organised to allow you enjoy quiet moment and be 1:2:1 with the beautiful nature. Henk and Michel and their team are making you feel as long awaited valuable guest. There are many thing to visit and see, if you have more time; but in my case of only 3 days - it was sufficient expelling places in a walkable distance

High up the hills and with a stunning view... and felt like coming home

✓ very nice welcoming (even in Dutch). What a view, you can see the sea and portimao. Very nice room, big sized and comfortable beds. Little treats of chocolates and free water and a personalized little welcome card. Everything you want to make you feel at home. Breakfast was really nice with nice fresh pastry, orange juice, delicious yoghurt that were (I think) home made and on top of that you can have any egg you want. The bath products of Rituals... omg soooo great because of the bad weather I could not enjoy the garden and the pool, so I will need to come back ;-)

✗ to get such a nice view, you need to get high up in the mountains and hence my little car needed to go through some very narrow and steep roads to get there. Bathroom is not superbig compared to the rest of the room and balcony, it didn't really bother me, but it was more the contrast with the large room that was striking.

✓ set in the mountains a peaceful retreat away from all the hustle and bustle with beautiful views across to the coast. staff were all extremely helpful and friendly.

✗ hadn’t realised the studio would be up quite so many steps as the description just mentions 50yds away.

A quiet haven in the mountains

✓ The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The view from my room was stunning and the room itself was very big (I was even told that this was one of the smaller ones). Breakfast was wonderful, freshly squeezed orange juice, a good choice of bread and the eggs were freshly made at one's own sweet will. I loved the tranquility and the stunning view towards the sea.

✗ Everything was perfect. I had no complaints at all.

A real haven

✓ We absolutely loved the views from the balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed. The honesty bar is useful, the pool was great. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and I liked the way he made a point of talking to guests at breakfast. He also made a great recommendation for a restaurant that we were able to walk to.

Beautiful magical hotel in a lovely mountain town

✓ This hotel is pure magic, gorgeous property with views forever !! flowers, gardens, koi, special places to read, lovely details, near hiking, a hearty walk to town for incredible meals, Monchique is a wonderful destination and this hotel will make your time happy and healthy

Great on paper, yet...

✓ location, location, location

✗ The rooms are spacious and clean, the hosts amazing, breakfast is great!!! The drive up there is a bit of a challenge. Glad we had a SUV. The facilities are disappointing, the jacuzzi is only available when reserved. Swimming pool is not heated. This location does not have any spa facilities, not connected to Monchique caldas. One more note about the rooms: you can hear everything in the next rooms....snoring, talking, sneezing, everything...not a brilliant good night sleep...
