That's the exact feeling I experienced when I met the lady of the house and her two adorable pugs face to face. There are so many wonderful things to share that it's challenging to narrow it down. However, for the benefit of future travelers, let me highlight a few additional memorable moments. The entire compound's grounds are meticulously maintained, boasting a beautiful open area with available parking and well-kept bikes at reasonable rates. The interior design of the house is so impressive that it could be featured on a home living channel. The rooms are spacious, immaculate, and meticulously detailed. Everything, from the hooks on both doors to the artwork, soft and serene light green paint, refrigerator, and curtains, comes together harmoniously. The bathroom is perfectly sized, exceptionally clean, and well-designed, offering everything you'd expect in your own home bathroom. The property's location is excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep without disturbances. However, the true key to this property's success lies in the kindness, goodness, and warm smiles of its owners. During my stay, I had the pleasure of conversing with the lady of the house, who impressed me with her knowledge, transparency, and wonderful sense of humor. On my second day, I had the opportunity to meet her husband, Hilias Ji, who perfectly complements his wife with his kindness, warmth, and thoughtfulness toward all guests. His inspiring story of how his business began is truly remarkable. I'd like to personally thank the entire family, including their four-legged members. Your kindness will forever be remembered, and I wish you continued success and happiness. Don't hesitate to book a stay at this place; simply go for it and enjoy your time to the fullest!

✗ Everything was really great and the staff exceptionally helpful. The room could have been better appointed to accomodate suitcases such a provision of a rack. Travelers do not necessarily want to unpack into a cupboard.

Pleasant stay

✓ The owner and his family are very friendly, hospitable and always ready to help (e.g. they changed money for us, arranged laundry at someone in the village, etc.). You can also rent a scooter from them. There are shops and good restaurants around the accommodation. The room was clean and nicely furnished. It also had a large balcony.

Hilias Retreat is little gem tucked away from noisy streets and beaches in Palolem.

✓ Hilias Retreat is little gem tucked away from noisy streets and beaches in Palolem. It is close to nearly every single amenities you would need in Palolem yet only 2 minutes' walking distance to beaches. The family who runs the Retreat is friendly and helpful. They even let me check-in at 8am when the check-in time was 11am. Since my room was ready, they just let me come and stay. What really impressed me was the cleanliness.

✗ Everything was nice but the fridge in the room was old with dent marks, etc., and a little noisy. Perhaps new fridges will be good.

Exceptional

✓ Perfect stay. Very nice clean room with good AC, fridge and wi-fi. Host family super friendly and helpful. Location perfect unless you want to stay on the beach specifically, in reality it is only a 30 second walk to the beach shacks. I have travelled to Palolem several times and this has been the best value property I have stayed at, I would definitely stay here again next time.
