Good location. Old facilities.
✓ The location was great.
✗ Too many stairs from parking to the room to the reception. Even the bathroom was up 3 stairs. Beds are very dated and in need of a change.

Once I was moved to the second room everything was great and I had a good night's rest.
✓ At first they put me in a room where nothing seemed to be working properly. The shower pressure was extremely low and there was an electrical problem in the room as the aircon, lamps, kettle and plugs weren't working. But I phoned reception and they immediately transferred me to a room where everything was great. They were super apologetic and helpful.

✗ The lodge in general is very old and outdated - there are no plug sockets or adaptors to be able to charge your cellphone The shower curtain needs to be replaced There is no plug to have a bath Upgrade of interiors needs to be updated Need proper milk for coffee and tea - not sachets of powder The kettle in my room did not work

Very good value for money - we keep going back
✓ Our company are repeat customers for Cape Dawn Guesthouse. We need to stay in that area for work and there are not many good guesthouses in the specific area.
✗ I don't see anything that can be improved - people must keep in mind that this is not (according to me) an area where you would want to stay if you are going for a holiday to Cape Town.

Very good value for money
✓ Beautiful pool. Buffet dinner a real Karoo treat. Very friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Very secure parking - which is a problem in Colesburg.
✗ The room had a weird, damp smell, but it went away after I opened the windows for a while.
