✗ Free breakfast is really very basic but it's nice to be provided the option. Some of the facilities weren't in the best condition (eg taps in the common toilet loose and I doubt anyone actually uses the pool; common fridge was absolutely stuffed full) but we could live with it for a few days.

I'd definitely stay again if I get the chance to visit Kuchin again.

✓ It was great staying in this boutique hotel. Very clean, calm and homely environment. The property in charge is extraordinarily great. Very helpful and good English speaker. All sorts of travel guides are available to plan any trip. Shared bathrooms are clean, odorless and there is provision of hot shower as well. Hotel premise is very secure. There is luggage storage and reading lounge.

✓ The location is convenient for visit museums, city walk and food feast. Very clean and quiet in the evening.

✗ There is no working staff on the reception desk sometimes. But actually, OK, because they leave the keys for me to pick up by myself.

✓ Breakfast is provided. It's at a great location, a lot of eataries on the same street. The ramen shop right next door is a hidden gem (for lunch)! The kueh chap stall opens in the evening on the same street is good too. Wayne is friendly and helpful during our stay at Check In Lodge.

✗ The walls and floor on the section where our room is seem a little thin, we can hear it when people walk pass the corridor.

Value for money hostel for travellers who are looking for some quiet down time around good food.

✓ I loved this place. It was definitely value for money and walkable to so much good food nearby. It is not the most social hostel, so perfect if you are looking for something more for a downtime by yourself. The air conditioning was strong and much needed for the time I was there.

✗ The place itself is a bit dated and probably needs some refreshing of some areas. My window did have a hole, which was ok but the whole window did look like it could come off any time. The pool area should also just be removed from the listing. It can definitely be converted into nicer common space.

Superb staff and location compensate for average facilities

✓ Amazing staff, good location, free breakfast, lots of bathrooms and showers for everyone, shared communal kitchen, lots of information on excursions and activities.

✗ The AC and windows had some mildew (mold?) from the humid climate. Overall facilities maintenance was a bit lacking, from the non-functioning pool to the depressing rooftop terrace.
