Nice hotel staff, nice room and decent Italian-style breakfast.
✓ I really want to praise the hotel staff. I had a situation with my (first) room that it was next to the room with a guest who was obviously unwell - loud coughing and sneezeng, etc. Practically, I could not sleep normaly in the room. I asked for room change and the staff proceeded it smoothly. Thanks again! Rooms we good, clean with nice view on Apennine Mountains. Breakfast is typically Italian, with a lot of croisants. I am not personally amazed by this, but it was OK and I noticed that other guests were happy. Again, the staff in the hotel restaurant was attentive.
✗ This is not a problem for hotel, but rather for the city (L'Aquila). The city is sprawled along the valley. As I had night intercity buses to and from L'Aquila, so I chose this hotel as it is next to intercity bus stop, which proven to be a good decision, as some of my colleagues at the conference had an issue with city taxis. Hotels in the area where "Canadian" is located are not so close to the historic city core, which is additionally on a hill, with a lot of parked cars in narrow streets and unfriendly pavement. If you prefer to walk between accommodation and the city core with the most of attractions (like me), it can be challenging.

✗ Rather loud location and loud fans from own restaurant, however, not really a surprise giving the location close to the hightway exit
