Solvang is charming. when I’m town I’d stay here again.

✓ location. location. location. large room. #7 is wonderful

✗ our reserved room was #1 - with big widows and the door right on the sidewalk. 100% unacceptable to us - two women in their 70’s. you could have no light in the room unless you invited the foot-traffic into your room. Happily we were moved to #7, upstairs and with two Queen beds so we paid a bit more.

A brief and comfortable stay

✓ I liked the accessibility and simplicity of the room. It was tidy, clean and I felt safe.

✗ I booked and paid through Booking.com. Because there is no office on the Atterdag premises, the check-in process is not ordinary. Allegedly, I was to have received an email prior to the day of my stay to receive my room number and access code. (Depending on what you read on the interwebs, the email was to come either 48 hours prior to or the morning of your arrival date.) I checked my email in the early morning before traveling to Santa Ynez Valley/Solvang. I received no correspondence with the pertinent information. The Atterdag's sister hotel is The Viking Inn (within walking distance). The Viking Inn has a staffed office, and the kind lady there was able to provide me with my room number and access code.

The new travel restrictions have moved all indoor dining outdoors. As of now, restaurants are open for outdoor dinning. I cannot guarantee that to be the case for Thanksgiving. It all depends on how our covid numbers go.
