Hotel Ariston and Palazzo Santa Caterina

Excellent location, nice swimming pool and fantastic views

✓ pool was lovely, sun beds were not really an issue. Lovely balcony sea view. breakfast was a nice variety. felt the location was decent (not too far of a walk to centre of Taormina but also very close to cable car leading to beach). Staff were very helpful and friendly. managed to get a free parking space too on hill by hotel :)

✗ Outdated hotel, clearly lovely back in its hay day but could do with a good face lift (bathrooms, rooms and lobby areas particularly). Air con was not the best though in fairness they did offer us a different room and got the maintenance man to fix it which improved things.

Beautiful stay and beautiful views

✓ Beautiful room overlooking the sea (breathtaking views) and beautiful and expansive pool area. The hotel could use a lot of modern updates throughout. Amazing breakfast with many, many options! The hotel staff were very professional and all lovely. They all seemed to be smiling and seemed to enjoy working in the service industry. The bus terminal to the airport is at the back of the hotel grounds. Shuttle with lido access and umbrella/chair offered by the hotel for 18euros.

✗ A minimum of one night at the hotel’s restaurant (for 3+nights stay) should be included in this expensive hotel stay. If guests were encouraged and tempted by at least one dinner there which is included, they might frequent it. Do not try and walk up Mabel hill and especially not with your suitcase (you’ll regret it. Trust me Haha).

Nice stay, would recommend to stay here

✓ Good location, nice pool with complimentary pool towels, air conditioning. Parking for hotel is just around the corner which is good.

✗ There were often not enough sunbeds/space by the pool. The bar/pool bar snacks/meals are very basic and all frozen items. One of the bar staff were not very friendly/welcoming on more than one occasion (tall man with dark hair). It is advertised cocktails by the pool however the man said he could only make 1 type of cocktail. Our room was quite basic and smelt of strong bleach on arrival.
